Holiday Gift

I actually got something done today! after trying to put Merrick asleep in his bed 4 times... I gave up and kept him on myself (where he's still being currently...) and stuffed and stitched the last stitches that needed to be stitched on Mariann's camera.

If I'm not careful enough about where I leave my camera (which is a canon rebel..not a toddler play thing!) I'm more than likely to ear something like "Photo, Maman!?" I'm pretty sure you can picture my daughter gently sitting on a chair, looking the more angel-like she can, holding the open camera with her little hands, the protective cap on the table and her little face almost all hiding behind the said camera. Cute, but possibly deadly. I would have taken a picture of her if I could....

It's really simple and took me 2 evenings (those being short of many nursing times). It's made to look like my camera she loves so much. But more simple, of course!

I feel like giving it now... but I'll try hiding it until the gift-opening day!

On another crafty note, I've sewn something for her Friday, from a very worn and dye-stained sweater of mine.

Now a black-grey stripped shrug to go with her bandanna dress

Couldn't get a crisp picture, sorry! Maybe another time...

(Looking for the link of the tutorial I felt on this. Couldn't resist posting it!Sorry for the randomness... It's relevant... a little...)

How's your holiday crafting going?

right now, I AM:

Creating in my head, while the babies are asleep (including one on me, so I can't do much else then sketch. I asked my younger SIL what she wanted and she replied : ""Uh. like... Something I could wear, like, to school... or something". You guessed she's a teen ;)

So I'm looking at various website for inspiration, and I'm sketching away!

What I did for a frugal swap...and what I got

Last month or so, I made for a woman I don't know, these (I believe) lovely things:

a peg family

complete with a signature!

Recycled crayon

Coupon purse

Woodland ornaments (I love these)
She said she might keep them all year round in her son's room

Here's the lot arrived at hers. I don't have a pic of the drying balls or the recipe book so I'm showing you:

The recipe book has a picture frame back so it's stays up :)

There's a lovely picture of her son kissing the creature in this forum thread :)
yay for love!

And then, I received (today!)...

nursing pads, peepeeteepee, coasters, fabric, purse, dish cloths, books produce bag...even an apron.

I feel I've got the best part of this swap and now I wished I did more!

Holidays WIP

This needs a stick. I'm pretty proud of it considering I made it from total scratch, looking at other hobby horse on etsy.

Those one are now sewn, and I'm waiting for my wool to arrive.

This one is actually finished, but needs to be stuffed, and I left it at the in-laws..:(, so you'll see next week. I love it!

I also did a pyj for the doll. My list is actually shorting!

I also did some alternated Tees for my nephew:

My sister and her husband are nurses.

I've also made one with the int. Breastfeeding symbol, I'll show you another time.

Thursday: Creature Making! How to make a 4-legged thing

The Unicorn Thing tutorial

Draw your shape on a paper, cut. I kind of wanted mine to look like an horse... but the neck is so long it looks like Nessy.

Cut 2 of it

Change color if you like.. Cut along the leg. I went to far and it will cause the creature not to stand very well...

Fold and cut along.

Sew the upper body, then place your "belly" under and sew along.

I've entered some stitches between the legs so it could stand....

Now embellish it.

Of course, Mariann grabbed it straight when she woke up from nap (it has a tail, at least!), she called it "Pony" and went construction a "house" for it with her blocks. Can you spot it?

Later I added some hair and a spike. Unicorn of the Loch Ness it is!

Thanks to every one who played along with me this week :)
tomorrow is the big day, but I won't be able to go, oh well!
I'll craft instead!
