Harry Potter love and Modeled Capelette

I made Hermione (her favorite), Harry, Ron, Ginny, Luna, Neville and Draco.

I made them very quickly, with Mariann constantly wanting to paint on them with me, getting bore to just paint two peg of her own. (one is now totally pink and the other green and blue).

Then She decided they needed a castle. The Quidditch Pit, my mom brought that home after a boxing day, I don't remember what year. It was part of a village to put under a Yule tree. My cousin has Hagrid's hut, I'll try to borrow it while HP is Mariann's thing. It changes from the fairies! And I didn't think I would be able to transmit my love for Harry Potter quite that fast. You can't see on this picture, but they both have a lightning bold on their forehead.

Mariann is quite happy with the capelette and might even be over the fact that it has no sleeves. It's big enough so it'll fit next fall too. Let's hope. They are growing so fast. When they got out of the bath tonight Mariann pulled out her favorite pyj (the fairies one) and said Merrick needed to dress up not to be cold. She then proceeded in trying to dress him up. They are growing full of love for each other. Full of hitting and pushing and pulling hair, but love none-the-less.

Spinning, Capelette and Children of the Forest

This is my first try at spinning. Do I love it? YES. It takes no time and looks so great. Very instant gratifying!

And I've been wishing to make a capelette for Mariann for ages, and there it goes; done. The red fleece was cut out since October I think... but I kept putting it away, telling myself she won't have the time to wear it and other things were more pressing to do. But this week I found 2 great vintage fabric at the thrift store and it inspired me to finish it for once! It took me 2 evenings and it was done. I covered the buttons cause none I had fit, and I'm happy I did. I followed no pattern, I roughly inspired myself from a coat Mariann's best friend has that is way more complicated. Hopefully I'll have Mariann modelling it tomorrow :)

And I've been wanting to make those since the book came at my door (Children of the Forest, Elsa Beskow). This is the clearest picture I was able to get. Once I find them back I'll take some more and put up a listing on etsy.

Papa started school, so he's gone for long period of time. Twice a week he's gone before we wake up and back at 10h30pm, and the children miss him so much. I do, too. The babies are quite long to get to sleep at night, and are very persistent on not wanting to nap. Picture above was taken at 7pm. She had quietly played with the cards (there's Harry Potter pictures on it. How she loves them!) and put them all back in the box and shut down. I tell you its the first time ever it happens, that she falls asleep somewhere else then a bed or the car.

So I haven't been blogging much lately... I don't expect I will post much in the future as well.

Holiday Gift

I actually got something done today! after trying to put Merrick asleep in his bed 4 times... I gave up and kept him on myself (where he's still being currently...) and stuffed and stitched the last stitches that needed to be stitched on Mariann's camera.

If I'm not careful enough about where I leave my camera (which is a canon rebel..not a toddler play thing!) I'm more than likely to ear something like "Photo, Maman!?" I'm pretty sure you can picture my daughter gently sitting on a chair, looking the more angel-like she can, holding the open camera with her little hands, the protective cap on the table and her little face almost all hiding behind the said camera. Cute, but possibly deadly. I would have taken a picture of her if I could....

It's really simple and took me 2 evenings (those being short of many nursing times). It's made to look like my camera she loves so much. But more simple, of course!

I feel like giving it now... but I'll try hiding it until the gift-opening day!

On another crafty note, I've sewn something for her Friday, from a very worn and dye-stained sweater of mine.

Now a black-grey stripped shrug to go with her bandanna dress

Couldn't get a crisp picture, sorry! Maybe another time...

(Looking for the link of the tutorial I felt on this. Couldn't resist posting it!Sorry for the randomness... It's relevant... a little...)

How's your holiday crafting going?

right now, I AM:

I skipped them for a month or so, I'm sorry Lisa! I'm sure you're pardoning me....

So, right now, I AM: Slowly building our new rhythm.
Merrick is still demanding a lot, and Mariann, even more! They need pretty much constant entertainment! Hopefully, washing dishes and lauding the dryer is still considered fun by Mariann... Which makes it a little less pénible.
Merrick is a little bit more regular and can now sleep on is own in the master bed for 3h in a row the afternoon, while Mariann naps in her own bed. That's a bless!

Tyr presents: Percy the Dragon

If you don't know yet, I'm a Craftster addict, and through that forum I met my now very good friend Karen. It happened that she was my swapie again for Imbolc swap, which I wished since it's around her and her little boy's birthday!

So I did something special for him, a plush dragon. That he named Percy :)

I've started with nothing but a blue blanket we never used and my imagination
Now I wish I kept some trace of the pattern...

But anyway, I'm so glad he loves it! <3
Isn't he cute with his missing teeth??

Holiday Craftings (part 2)

I'm sorry I'm such a terrible blogger. I've been away for days and I'm still really dizzy!
I'm sending you my best wishes for the new year anyway :D

Here's the second part of the craft I did for my relatives:
First, a second poppet, this one for my younger SIL. She's called Liah and she's a Vampire, rah!

Painted Make-up, synthetic hair (made by me)

Jewelry

Some blood, just in case...

The dress is made out of a top I had that I wore A LOT and doesn't fit anymore. The body is white felt and she's filled with dead teddies. Her legs, arm and finger are articulated with pire cleaner.

Next I painted on wine glasses with vitrea 160. This product is great. You paint, wait 24h and then cook them in your own stove at 300 F. I went for classical Ivy leaves as it was a surprise, not requested present (that I knew my in-laws would love). They say they'll get 4 other glasses so they can have a larger set.

Oven mittens, apron and hand towels

For my daughter of course! She put the mitten right away after unwrapping her music box.. which picture should got next... uh! forgot to take a picture of it. Will got next I guess...

What the best part of the Holidays? Having every meal with Papa!

must read: Papa cooked so Maman got a break! :D

recipe:
Frozen strawberries
Frozen blueberries
1 or 2 banana(s)
An apple
Apple Juice (the real one that is brown)
+ any fruits you see fit.

Top crêpes (or pancakes) or even waffles with that and you get a baby full of nutriments all over her body (but most ended up in her belly)

Don't forget to take out the cloths, it's highly stainable.

oh, and it's Monday:
DIY Day @ ASPTL

I must add this too:

Because it's back! Yay!
