Harry Potter love and Modeled Capelette

I made Hermione (her favorite), Harry, Ron, Ginny, Luna, Neville and Draco.

I made them very quickly, with Mariann constantly wanting to paint on them with me, getting bore to just paint two peg of her own. (one is now totally pink and the other green and blue).

Then She decided they needed a castle. The Quidditch Pit, my mom brought that home after a boxing day, I don't remember what year. It was part of a village to put under a Yule tree. My cousin has Hagrid's hut, I'll try to borrow it while HP is Mariann's thing. It changes from the fairies! And I didn't think I would be able to transmit my love for Harry Potter quite that fast. You can't see on this picture, but they both have a lightning bold on their forehead.

Mariann is quite happy with the capelette and might even be over the fact that it has no sleeves. It's big enough so it'll fit next fall too. Let's hope. They are growing so fast. When they got out of the bath tonight Mariann pulled out her favorite pyj (the fairies one) and said Merrick needed to dress up not to be cold. She then proceeded in trying to dress him up. They are growing full of love for each other. Full of hitting and pushing and pulling hair, but love none-the-less.

Thursday: Creature Making!

Ever wished to own an hippogriff or a dragon? Or an owl for sending mails? Wouldn't it be cool?

Well, apparently us muggle can't. But we can try. With some imagination, and some fabric.

My friend Abeeroad did an awesome I-Spy owl for Mariann last HP swap on craftster.

I-Spy toys are sachet where you have a list of item to find.

Here we got a moon, and a wand, and a phoenix, and griffindor's sword.....

There's a great article about making a dragon in the 2010 edition of Rhythm of the home.

I made a dragon back in February for a special little boy:

It is now called Percy!

There's tons of awesomely done plushes of Dragon, Unicorn and even House Elves and Pixies around!

Wednesday: Accessories for the hip Wizzard: Golden Snitch Necklace

I made a bunch of those last year, or even the year before that. I took apart some angel ornaments, paint their gold wings silver, and gold-leafed some Styrofoam balls.

This one (and the cute little box) was for my cousin.

I kept one for myself.

and sold 3 in my etsy. But I have some left.

Wednesday: Accessories for the hip Wizzard.

Today I have a tutorial for you:

How to make your wand (from an old paint brush).

Take your old paint brush, sand it a bit, and paint the colour you want. Then, roll some pipe-cleaner around to create an handle.

pretty simple, yet so comfy!

Coming: Necklace for the Quidditch fan...

Monday: Magical Treats!

(DH earing made by Abeeroad!)

So, for all those who wondered what was behind those Marshmallows (below) there's a hint in the picture above!

Pumpkin Juice!

very yummy indeed!

What you need to do the dry mix:

  • 1/2 cup regular iced tea mix powder
  • 1 cup orange breakfast drink mix, like Tang
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar.
  • 4 teaspoons pumpkin spice (1/2 tsp ground cinnamon + 1/4 tsp ground ginger + 1/8 tsp ground allspice + 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg = 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice)
  1. Measure all ingredients into a clean dry jar.
  2. Stir or shake well.
  3. To serve: 2-3 heaping tsp with 1 mug hot water.
  4. Serve hot or chilled.
(from food.com)

*Personal Note: When drinking hot, add marshmallows, let them melt a little and eat with a spoon. Totally delicious, just like Molly does it!

It is very cool once cooled as well. I imagine it very well serve in pitcher with some ice cubes on a hot July evening.

You might want to take a look at how to make these as well:

Coming today: Chocolate frogs and Pumpkin pasties!

Did you miss me?

Well, I've been a very bad blogger this month. I'm sorry, but I have a pretty good reason not to show you anything: My camera is at the camera hospital.
It was all acting weird, from, let's say, being "played with" too much. Not that I blame Mariann for dropping it once or twice... Okay. I do. I really feel the miss. I hitch to take pictures. I took tons at my in-laws this weekend.

Fortunately enough, the stuff I'm currently crafting I can't show. You'll see it when the recipient receives it. Which should be in some weeks...

Now, I made a button, because even if none of you showed interest in participation, I still want to have at least a week of HP craft&recipes before the first part of HP7 comes out.

I repeat myself, but it'll be so great to have people joining in! I'd start it Monday previous the coming out date. Any thing HP related would be welcomed!

I would have a post each day (5 of them) with a craft and links to ladies who had an HP related post to offer that day. The more the better! :D Oh and please grab the button!

Some announcement (bottom of post)!

Here goes another time were I'm involved in swaps, crafting a lot, and not able to show anything not to spoil the surprise to my partner!!
But I give you a hint; it's Harry Potter oriented. 1 wearable thing, 1 play thing and one edible thing. Of course I can't stink to one thing but hey! I can't change myself on that (why would I?)

On another joyful note, I sold my first Little Daddy Bag today! youhou! Some lucky little boy is gonna get it for yule !

I plan on making some more (Little Mommy & Daddy) in November for my shop, after the swap-crafting rush.

Now. HP7 part 1 is getting out November 19th.
I know I'm gonna post HP related crafts and recipe... I thought It'd be great if you'd like to join me! comment here or email me.. I'll plan on something great, starting november 1st :)

Meanwhile I'd like to show various HP post I already posted, for those who missed them:

Hope you enjoy!

Mini Quidditch Chest

The Quaffle and the bludgers are styrofoam balls, the first is wrapped/sewn with ecarlat polar and the seconds are wrapped in electric tape. The little snitch is made out of pipe cleaner :)

I design a crest with the idea that Québec should have its own team. so it's the crest for Québec's Querelleur.

I still need to find 2 little bats and possibly a nice blue scrapbook paper with some fleur de lys on it. And a locket to put the snitch in, of course!

What's up with Harry Potter?

Really?

Image taken here

I went to witchvox yesterday and 2 of the featured articles were about him (or Her as in J.K.Rowling) and the week before there was one too....talking about how bad, or not, the books and movies are, or cautiously examinating everything she wrote, every aspect of the books, every philosophy and such.

Hey, it's Fiction! It's not the new Scott Cunningham's. Stop analyzing it like it was a new bible or something.

Yes, these are great books. I'm a total fan. Obsessed. I craft a lot of stuff inspired by the stories. She used historical facts and commune legends in a very good way. The story is very well written, the characters are true and we bond easily. There's a great moral in it.

What I don't get is that it's taking a greater place in the pagan community.
Like it was a new tradition... It's a fascinating fiction. Not a new witchcraft tradition, please!

Halloween Stuff!

I'm the one organizing the Halloween swap on the hair forum this year; and Here's all the Halloweeny goodies I made for my swapie:

First, my big project (and fav) A Cooking Spellbook, inspired by Hocus Pokus :)

Filled with magical recipe; True Blood, Waffles Wands, Edward's Kiss, Butterbeer....

My second bag I ever make, and the most intricate! I tried making a buttercup bag... The hoppening is very narrow.... But I like it anyway ...

It's lined with Orange burlap

The inside of the Halloween couture kit, for fun (it might interest the most curious...):

one of the tiny pumpkin pincushion inside

Her fav color is deep purple, and those were so cute I bought them.

Inside are really salted pumpkin seeds... Made it look like it was coming out of Honeydukes...

I made little pouch for everything, too.

If you were wondering how I made the Spellbook;
-Reused a cereal box.
-Made a white ball out of modeling clay, stuck a teady bear eye on it (I cruelly destroy plush to reuse their eyes...)
-Shape a first layer of eyelid with red modeling clay, the nexts with newspaper+modpodge
-Newspaper for the other relief too; paint it all in brillant red, played with paint after; brown, lighter shades of red, black, etc...
-Sew along the relief I made
-Had the "silver" details.
-Modpodge scrapbook paper inside the book (so you couldn't see the big roster anymore, ahah) and hide the sewing
-attached rubans, which holds the page. I was going to handbound it but I figure it would take 3 eternity....

I'd like to add this post to Reoshell's über-super-very cool Fall linky!

The DIY Show Off

And the DIY Day, too!

Thanks for looking!
