Merro

I've got the habit of giving the doll I'm working on a nickname. If the doll isn't a custom order, I call her something random (I call the girl above is Adèle), but if I know the name of the kid who'll receive it, I mix my kid's name with his/hers and come for a nickname for the doll. It's silly...But it's how it works in my head!

So this little brown haired, brown eyed guy will soon be the possession of a little man called Matéo. He is a little ober 15½" and is button jointed. The mama didn't want to see it prior sending and then changed her mind, so here it is.

His brown pants once were a sweater, the burgundy long shirt was once a tank top, the boots were ones that I found and lightly dyed with tea, and the vest is a blend of wools, with remnant of Adèle's hair to make the hood.

Speaking of which, I'm pretty proud of myself! It truly was a make it work moment...Very few yarn to work with, and no pattern to start with! But I figured it out, and I love it. Updated Ravelry notes here. There's a lot of imperfection in this... But it's full of love, which fully compensate.

And so I found that I loved knitting...As if I didn't have enough projects going on!

I had a special request for a special little boy doll. The mama also requested a knitted vest with him. Since she reads my blog and does not want to see him before he arrives home, I've let Victoria model it.

I've added 7 stitches or it would have been too short, but the length of the body was okay. You can see I finally finished Victoria's hairs as well...

I'm really happy with the vest! It's meant to have a hood, and I will knit it soon. I'm also happy I can finally say that I can knit. Really...It was starting to be annoying, people assuming I could knit, me telling no, and them going You!?? You don't know how to knit!??? But you can do anything! Well, I guess now I can, thanks to a book from the SIL (that was all about gather stitch) I got last Yule and a friend who taught me how to purl. And google. Who showed me how to bind off.

So now I have to knit a vest for Victoria. I think it will be red.

Yarn Along and Doll Washing

Have you seen that? I've actually started a sweater!
It's for Mariann. Design from here. I'm using some purple wool I found at the thrift store. It cost me... I don't know, very not much! It's my first real knitting project. So far it's going great. I might have miss some spots and the cabling will probably look weird. But... I guess my daughter won't mind.

I'm reading Stephen Lawhead's Arthur. It's the third books of a 5 series and it's pretty great. It pictures a very catholic enviroment for the legende. There's still some magic...Since Merlin is so leet.

See the stickers and the sippy cup? That's how I manage to get Mariann to nap this week. She sleeps; stickers.

Ah! Poor Victoria. Looks like someone walk over her with his work boots. Beside, the plum on her feet and the chocolate ice cream on her arms needed to go as well...

As some of you might (or might not) remarked, I post a lot less then I used to, and I also comment less... I guess we can say I'm taking a blogging break. With the nice weather finally here, we're mostly outdoor, and if you add the fact that my faithful computer of 6 years died last week, plus a lot of things to craft, you have a recipe for no posting... Rest assure, I have some stuff to show you, as I'm in a crafting blitz before packing all my supplies.

I can wait to move now, and redo our nest into the house. I'll have a craft room! Just for me! No more corner of the living room, with Papa getting annoyed by the sewing machine.... And room... A lot of it, into the house, and outside of it!

finally sorted my spool. I was in need of something visually fun....

When we get home after the parc in late afternoon, Mariann usually fall asleep in her stroller. It's not very practical as I don't want to wake her up... But the fact is, it's the neighbor below us' parking lot, and our balcony is upstairs... and I can't really take Mariann (in the stroller) upstairs with Merrick in his sling... So I take my time when I get home and Papa usually arrive from his summer class soon after us, which solves the problem.. Still, I can't wait to have our really balcony back at the house... One that is big enough so you can actually have some chairs and a table.

And this weekend I spent all my free time on this little lady! She's currently on her way to Australia (that's why she has a coat and mitaines...it's winter there, right?) She asked me to try to make dimples, and I love the results! I'll post more pictures of her later.

A couple dolls I made. One of them is for sale!

This one I made for a little girl we often go play with.


And this one is a try. I wanted to make a very chubby little doll. Here it is!

She's very detailed; nose, freckles, bellybutton, hairs that can be brushed and...

...a little butt!

I need to complete her outfit.. She still needs shoes, undies and some kind of sweater. Any one of my follower wants it before I put it on etsy?

Let me present you Liliann

Liliann is a 16" Brown hair with green/blue eyes with hand made cloth from up cycled jeans, shirt and baby blanket. And I've hand crocheted a purple sweater.

Also given with a hat that was found in thrift store, and knitted mohair socks. Those were an actual gift from our little neighbour's mama and now we're giving them back.

Her hair can be brushed gently and styled in any ways! It's a mohair blend and it's really soft!

She made out of organic cotton and filled with wool.

She's created in a way that she can sit, and her legs are a little extra long, perfect for sitting yoga poses!

She needed undies too, as her owner is diaper-free :)

Going to deliver Liliann.

My daugther is pretty exited to share some doll lovin'. I thought she'd make a fuss when going home because the doll was not come back with us, but she did nothing. She remembered it when we enter the apart and I just said that it was Elijah's now, and everything was okay!

More little dolls to come :)

Last night was a productive night

Some time ago I had a lovely lady requesting for 4 pre-made heads for her to make dolls to her daughter and nieces. I finally got around making them last night and finish them today. It feels great to have something to check off my to-do list, and I can't wait to see the final result of them all! (You're obligated to sent me pics, Luiza!)

At the same time I made those; a little family for a little girl that just turned 3yr old on Easter day. We met them at the place I probably talked about already... full of old ladies rocking babies while the mommies drink coffee... And the little girl and Mariann get along so well! True, Mariann get along with almost every kid of every age... You should have seen her go on four leg with a 9 month old today! Quite hilarious! So our girls get along very well, our boys are about the same age too... for now they are only cute to sit one next to each other...we'll see how the friendship will develop... And I had my last of peg dolls laying around waiting to be used. Now I have a good reason buying more.

Merrick, around 2 month old (he's grown that much already?)

I'm desperate to use my sewing machine! Someone requested me a Pixie Suit... and it's all cut out waiting to be sewn together... and I was able to assemble half a pilot hat tonight... But here's my sewing time..Or better yet, the time I can't sew: when Papa studies (aka all the time he's there), when Merrick is awake (because he's a real attention whore) when Merrick sleeps (most of the time, it wakes him up) and when we eat...because I like to eat my meal hot and freshly cooked when it is... So if you look at that schedule... Leaves very little time for me!

That's it for the show-off/ranting post! I'm still very stressed about knowing where we'll go next year... Ahhhhrrr... I need a shower!

I suspect pure act of kindness from this lady, who bought it. (She looks more talented then me!)




The brown eyed one was made for the daughter of one of Papa's Uncle's wife's niece... or something. She was born around same date as Mariann and we're going to see her on new year.

I'll be making more of those!

But before, I have to wash off Merrick's doll. See, Mariann carry both hers and his around... which is a lot for her little arm (in her big snow suit...) so she dropped it in the calcium/snow side round mud. Yuk!
